Sydney's Best Family Escapes

It is always good to get out of the city, even if it is only for the weekend. Luckily, Sydney is surrounded by beautiful nature, so wherever you go, you are bound to enjoy good views and relax. Here are some of our suggestions.

1. Mowbray Park Farm

Mowbray Park is an old countryside property located 70 minutes south of Sydney. It has all the facilities you need for a cozy holiday, and a lot of activities to offer, including tennis, archery, billiard and canoeing. Their farm is a perfect way for your kids to spend some time with animals, milk cows, ride horses, collect eggs, feed pigs, watch sheep shearing and experience real farm life.

2. Riverwood Downs

This 4.5 star resort is located in the foothills of Barrington Tops 2.5 hours drive from Sydney.  Being on the banks of a mountain river, it has a river cottage, as well as family timber park cabins and boutique rooms. There are also a swimming pool, a tennis court and pool tables onsite, and golf courses are not far away. You can ride horses, go platypus and bird watching, and even bring your pet with you.

3. The Central Coast Holiday Parks

We can’t think of a more perfect destination if you have kids. These parks are set in four different locations: Canton Beach, Norah Head, Toowoon Bay and Budgewoi so they are all either on a beachside or lakeside location. They have recently been upgraded with resort style pools, jumping pillows and outdoors amphitheaters. Your kids can also feed pelicans there, ride horses and visit the Australian Reptile Park.

4. The Redleaf Resort

The Redleaf Resort is only 90 minutes away from Sydney, bordering the Blue Mountains National Park, meaning you have easy access to everything this national park has to offer. Some of the most popular sightseeing destinations are Jenolan Caves, Govetts Leap, Scenic World with its Railway, Skyway and Walkway and Zig Zag Railway. We guarantee your kids are going to love the Trains, Planes and Automobiles antique toy shop. The restaurant usually serves fresh, local produce.

5. Bilpin Springs Lodge

We recommend visiting this private house when in the Blue Mountains. It is located on 10 acres of gardens, apple and peach orchards and it is close to farms and National Parks. It can take up to 20 guests and is perfectly setup for families with family rooms that sleep four, six and eight people. There is a playground, a spa, animals, barbecue and a country kitchen. It is perfect for winding down after a long week.

6. Banjos Bushland Retreat

This is a 5-star retreat set within an enormous bush resort. There are views of bushland as far as you can see from any side you look. The experience of the luxurious facilities in the midst of nature will reset you completely. It is family friendly, with adventure playgrounds, tennis courts, table tennis, and games room.

7. Q Station National Park

Last but not least, Q station is a perfect getaway if you don’t have much time. With its 36 acres of natural surrounds, it will transport you into a relaxed mindset in no time. You can go bushwalking, swimming, kayaking, or simply hang out on their beach gazing at the turquoise sea. There is a historical museum, many interesting activities for kids, like ghost tours, and fully equipped onsite leisure and sports facilities.

Wherever you decide to go, make sure to leave your worries at home and use your time out of town to relax and rejuvenate.
